The R8 features a microprocessor-controlled metal-blade shutter capable of speeds from 16 seconds up to 1/8000s, of course you have Buld mode (B) for long exposures.

You can toggle between three (3) Precise Modes : Selective (Spot), Center-Weighted, and Multi-Pattern (Matrix) metering.
High-Speed Flash Sync :
The camera allows for full flash synchronization at 1/250s, which Is exceptionally fast for an SLR of It's era.
Ergonomic Design :
Designed by Manfred Meinzer, It's bold, asymmetric shape was engineered to fit perfectly In the hand for better balance with heavy lenses.
Digital-Ready Chassis :
The R8 was uniquely designed to be modular, allowing users to swap the film back for the Digital Modul R to convert it into a digital SLR.
