Leaf shutter & What Is It? :

Unlike traditinal film cameras that use curtainsnear the film plane, the hasselblad 500C/M utilizes a Compur leaf shutter built directly into the Zeiss lenses. This mechanical elegance allows for full flash synchronization at all speeds up to 1/500s, giving you total control over ambient light. Think of a leaf shutter like the iris of an eye. It cossists of small, overlapping metal blades (the leaves) that sprinf open and shut in a circular motion during an exposure

A Quick Note

• The barn doors at the back of the camera body open to let light reach the film
• The leaf shutter in the lens does the actual timed exposure
• When you let go, the barn doors close to keep the film safe while you reset the camera.
